My Lawyer “Got Me $??????”
Big settlements are something we see all the time on television, billboards and internet commercials. You see a big number and a smiling client holding a check, and those are the words you read or hear: My lawyer got me X amount of Money”. And the big number you see is supposed to entice you into hiring that lawyer. Most folks think that if they have a similar case, they can get the same “big check” that the person in the commercial or billboard got. But, client beware! That slang language does not equate to “My lawyer negotiated a $500,000 settlement, but her fee was $225,000 per contract, and I had medicals of $150,000 which my lawyer refused to negotiate, minus costs and expert fees of $50,000, with the remainder of $75,000 coming to me.” That doesn’t sound so sexy does it? But technically, the lawyer “got me” $500,000!!
That is why clients need to ask the right questions when they meet with an attorney. The lawyers at MotoJustice don’t talk mumbo jumbo with clients; we are straight shooters. Our contract is not 5 pages long, it is one page long. It clearly states who gets what and discusses costs, medicals and all percentages due and owing for each stage of the case. Many lawyers charge a flat fee of between 40% and 50% of any gross settlement, and many times it does not matter what stage the case is in when it settles or if it goes to trial. The contract created by MotoJustice clearly states who gets what and when during all phases of the litigation.
If you want a good feel of how MotoJustice prioritizes clients, go to the testimonials page at MotoJustice.com. See the clients tell the stories about keeping the larger share of the settlement. Please go our testimonials page to or check out our videos and see what good results look like. Real results. That is an important thing to see because in the hypothetical case described above, the client got less than the lawyers and the doctors!!!! What our clients at MotoJustice experience is the care and concern that comes from lawyers that actually ride motorcycles. Not lawyers that bought into a franchise or just advertise for motorcycle cases because they want that business. As riders, the lawyers at MotoJustice make the client/rider the priority.
The goal is to give them the best service possible, not simply to put the most money in the lawyer’s pocket. Or, by taking the easy route of simply paying all medicals without at least trying to negotiate them down for the client. Remember, the fee on most contingency cases “comes off the top”, meaning the fee is based on the gross amount including all costs and medicals. Is your lawyer willing to spend the time and do the work to negotiate medicals down? The answer should be an emphatic “YES!” since every dollar of medical bill reduction is a dollar in the client’s pocket (not the lawyer’s or the doctor’s pocket). MotoJustice is not afraid to handle those negotiations and do that work because our goal is to give excellent legal representation and service to our motorcycle riding clients. We want to turn a miserable experience into something at least approaching a positive experience. That is the goal of MotoJustice and it translates into fellow riders that continue to ride. It’s not just about making money on a legal case; the lawyers at MotoJustice want to keep riders riding! Contact us today to get us started on your case.
